Spent the last few days winterizing the water systems and motors, washed and treated the isinglass, washed the boat. I finished playing with the garden hose yesterday. I don't like being cold, and I don't like being wet. I HATE being cold and wet!

Me also, I am not looking forward to winterizing...But I do want to get a few more days on the water!

Every time I try to extend the season I get burnt the last couple of years I just pull out on or about Columbus day. Then I winterize as quickly as I can and enjoy the next few weeks not having to stress about the temperature falling quickly. I have other hobbies to keep me busy.

I still need to pull and service the outdrives, but it only takes a few minutes to get them off the boat. I can work on 'em in the garage, or even wait until spring if it stays cold. Knock wood, I don't have much to fix. The bilge blower quit right before she came out but that's about it.

I wish us all a mild winter and early spring :-)

I'm out and engines winterized just have to wash her down then cover up for the winter. I ended up buying a winter cover, got tired of shrinkwrap.

All winterized and wrapped and feeling good about it.

I don't think the winter covers pay. I priced them out once and just couldn't justify the cost. Certainly it is more work and effort than wrap.
I pay $500 to wrap my boat. They quoted me like $5K for the cover, that is 10 years of wrap, plus the cover has to be stored, a frame is needed to be built.
I watch a friend build that frame every year and it's alot of work. Plus the frame and the cover needs to cleaned and stored and then transported back and forth to boat twice a year.

Let me know if you see it different. At my age, the less I do on the boat the better I feel. Just winterizing and cleaning take a toll on my back!!

First time ever I'm coming out in October.., I guess I'm getting old .. and if possible more cranky !

Rob

My boat is small enough to cover but covering a 40 footer that's a tent. I agree 500 bucks is a good deal.

I plan on having them pull me 12/15 when I leave for my first ski trip of the season
