This was a little scary for all us.
After about 9 days of our trip.. Tobay to Greenport, to American Wharf it Ct, to Newport, back to Greenport, we are headed to Montauk. We leave gas dock at Claudios early morning.
We just get started cruising and all alarms go off.
High water alarm beeeeeep!
forward bilge pump
aft bilge pump
high temperature beeeeeep!

We are taking on water and blue smoke is coming from starboard engine exaust
grey smoke from bilge and everywhere else.

I shut down both engines and frantically have everyone don pfds.
I put 3 kids, my wife and dog in inflatable on swim platform.
A boat pulls up and says he called 911 for us. Thank you.. whoever you are.
I was deciding if it was to be a mayday or Tow Boat U.S. call.
Pull open engine hatch and smoke everywhere.
The Family now is loaded onto a friends boat that was in the area.
The bilge pumps have done their job after I shut down the engines.
The grey smoke that smelled like burning something, ended up being steam from a raw water hose that lost a $2.00 clamp. Mixed with bilge fluids in seemed like smoke originally.
Shelter Island Fire boat responded as well as Greenport and Southold pd.
Douglas Marine Towboat U.S. responded and towed us to Albertson Marine.

Albertson Marine in Southold was GREAT.
Got me back on the water on a Saturday in 2 hours.
Douglas Marine was GREAT.
Thank you to everyone.

While we were at Albertsons, the ambulance was nextdoor at Port of Egypt taking the 4 men who's boat sunk in the same spot we almost went down. 1 man is still missing.
I guess the abandon ship drill we did on Saturday was a great learning experience.
Back home and all is well.
