...they are finally replacing the damaged dock house at the head of our ramp. No boat access for a few days and no electric for at least a week. Sometimes wintering in the water sucks!

We,, that was fun. Over 8 minutes of lifting, dangling, twirling out houses. :)

Wow, that was 8 minutes and 27 seconds of my life that I'll never get back...

What's the purpose of the dock houses and don't you worry about things freezing with no electricity?

Security gates plus it houses the electric service, meters and water regulator.

The boat is winterized Greg but you still want electric just in case something happens to keep the bilge pumps going. Plus this time of year I usually work on the boat under it's winter cover to get things ready for the season. Tough to do with no electric.

Thinking about using the generator and then running a few gallons of pink through it before I leave. Still gets below freezing here at night.

If you are in a hurry and need to work on the boat just run the genset and put a gallon or two of pink in it when you are done.

What is the water temp there now? That makes a difference between freezing your equipment or not.

Last weekend it was 47 degrees. Not too bad actually.

Would the genny freeze if the water temp is 47? I'm not sure it would. Do you have a thermometer in the boat I wonder what the low temp would be with the cover on. One thing I have to say about the shrink wrap is it creates a glass house effect and hold heat in very well. I know you have a material cover and I have now idea how this works but I would think it would breath much better and not have the same effect with holding in the heat.

I would think he is ok with the water temp at 47. The night time temp haven't been low at all. A 28 degree night has a hard time defeating the 47 degree motor.
