Hi everybody - I've been away from BoaterEd for awhile just because its been busy and didnt get a chance to post, but I was thinking of you all this past few weeks because my family and I took some nice weekends and a short vacation on Lake George, Lake Champlain and the upper part of the Champlain Canal. Plus as many of you know I run the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County which has many of the Hudson and Mohawk River towns along its shores, from near Schenectady all the way around and up to Schuylerville or thereabouts.

We went to some great little places, such as the new Whitehall Marina (which has a really nice restaurant, clean showers/restrooms and good dockage/repair facilities), or the nearby Historic Grounds Coffee Shop, or the Chipman Point marina in VT, or the Town and Village of Ticonderoga which lies between Ft. Ticonderoga and Lake George. We also spend some time on the "big" Lake Champlain up a little north of Westport. So if I can be of any help to anyone looking to put together an itinerary please dont hesitate to reach out. I'm also reachable on Facebook as many of you know, so feel free to contact me there as well, and I promise to post here for everyone's benefit. Hope its been a good summer, it was nice to get out and point the bow of the boat in a straight line and just "go" for the first time in about 5 years! See you all soon.

It's good to see some development along the canal. Back in '98 or '99 we took our Silverton up that way for a leaf peeper ride. Having stayed at the Lock12 marina which appears to be closed now, we can attest that spot needed a new place. While Finch and Chub offered a good meal the marina left quite a bit to be desired.

Maybe some day we'll get to do that trip again. I still would like to see the Canadian canals etc..
