Saint Max is getting hauled in a couple of weeks for spring "stuff".

What is a reasonable price for a bottom paint job on a 33' express cruiser?

Depending on the bottom growth I have been quoted a worst case scenario of $1K for pressure wash, prep and paint. The $1K includes the price of ACT paint. The boat requires 1.5 gallons. The paint is at retail, not BF prices. Retail is about $190 per gallon.

Please help.....this boating stuff is getting expensive!!!!!

I just paid $11.00 a foot here in N.Y., and they just used standard boat yard paint. I dont recall what i paid for the powerwash, as I had that done when the boat was hauled in the fall. You don't say if that price includes the haul out. The yard I used gets 7.50 a foot for a short haul. You are paying $33.00 a foot for the whole job. It seems a bit high.

I paid $360 for a 28 ft. boat in 2006 and then $460 in 2008.
This was for haul, pressure wash, bottom paint and annodes.
After Hurricane Ike hit, the insurance wanted to haul the boat
to see if there was damage below the waterline. The sent the
boat yard $1500 to haul, pressure wash and paint the bottom.
One of the boat yard owners said that they must be charging
too little for bottom jobs.
I doubt I will be paying around $500 again after the insurance
gave them so much for our bottom job again.

Sounds high for minimal prep and one coat. Are they buying 2 gallons and giving you the remainder?

They pressure washed the bottom and let dry. Then rolled on two coats.
They gave me no paint back. They charged by the foot. Not by the gal.
They use Micron Extra.
