Time to strip off the bottom paint during this offseason.

Wondering if it makes more sense to soda blast this fall and let sit over the winter and the bottom paint before launch in the spring, or do both the soda blast and bottom paint in the spring?

Or, is there no difference and just do whatever is easiest for me?

This will be my first time stripping off all the bottom paint. Before reapplying in the spring is there any special prep I should do?

Just Soda blasted mine 2 yrs ago... Definitely blast it in the fall. You want to open up any blisters and let them dry out for a couple of months (hopefully you are in heated storage - ideal conditions for this). It also gave me time to open up and reglass any stress cracks in hull. (PS: wear a mask)

Soda blasting roughed up my hull very nicely but I still took a quick swipe at it with sandpaper and acetone (to be sure of adhesion) before applying the Epoxy (4) layers, and then VC-17M (4) layers. As of Today - zero flaking and a nice smooth hull.

There are some great B-ed posts with advice on what folks have done and used. Do a little research before grinding.
