Canvas Repair

I have a 9year old canvas bimini top. The front ripped while putting on for the season. I now have a 10" cut apprx 3" from the end. Is this worth sewing up and patching or should I scape it. Also any ideas on replacement cost and reliable canvas dealers in south eastern Connecticut.
THe size is apprx 11'wide x 8' long

what is the canvas fabric? sunbrella or other? many time someone will bring me a canvas that torn. Ill try pulling on the tear to find it tears as easily as paper if your doese also it rotten and resewing can result in tearing again at the new stiching.
