Cleaning aluminum rails help!

I really need to find a technic or product to clean my aluminum rails on the boat. My arch looks great as does the frame for the hardtop because they are new and I keep light wax on them. My safety rails are 13 years worth of neglect, they are very dull and stained looking. Is it possible to make them shine again and if so how and what do I need? I tried Mother's aluminum rim cleaner and it didn't put a dent in the problem. Thanks in advance.

I have used Aluminum Jelly (like Naval Jelly) and had good luck with that. Also had plain old Chrome polish work. In my experience you just have to keep using different products until you find one that works for your particular problem. Sometimes it is just not possible to reverse the effects of age and neglect.

I've used Never Dull to good effect, wax 'em afterward. Haven't tried it on something that old, though.
 
If they are "real bad" 0000 steel wool soaked with WD-40 will get them in decent shape. After that use a polish, then wax.
 
I would recommend using a synthetic instead of steel wool. The steel wool will leave tiny particles everywhere that will then leave rust spots.

My boat is 17 yrs old. I use Never Dull to shine up the SS railing and aluminum rubrail "frame". Every fall I put a light coating of WD40 on each. This has prevented pitting and keeps everything looking good.
 
I have used Weno on Aluminum with good results. The stuff I used it on was indoor v. outdoor stuff so YMMV.
