I have been advised to wash the boat with simple green. What effect does this have on the wax?

I bought some Meguire's car wash soap. At first I was disappointed in the lack of sudsing as I washed the boat. During the quick wipe down after I finished washing I noticed less spotting and streaking, now I like it.

I put one of those wet spot softeners inline on my wash down system this spring. Haven't tried it for results, but soft water will make more suds and hopefully less (meaning NONE) spotting.

"Aluminum - Is it safe to use Simple Green® on aluminum?
When used with caution and according to the instructions, Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner has been safely and successfully used to clean aluminum. Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner, Crystal Simple Green® Cleaner/Degreaser, Simple Green Pressure Washer Concentrates, and Pro Series™ Simple Green® Automotive Cleaner have been used on aircraft, automotive, industrial and consumer aluminum items for over 20 years. However, caution and common sense must be used: aluminum is a soft metal that easily corrodes with unprotected exposure to water. The aqueous-base and alkalinity of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner can accelerate the corrosion process. Therefore, contact times for unprotected or unpainted aluminum surfaces should be kept as brief as the job will allow - never for more than 10 minutes.""

Sounds safe if you don't let it sit on it for a long time at a high concentration.

I use Simple Green in my shower drains and shower sump.

On my fiberglass, I use something called Orpine, and on
my non skid, I use Attwood non skid deck cleaner.
Both are mild on wax, but clean good.

As I understand it,USCG stopped using Simple Green to clean airplanes because it caused corrosion around rivets, seams and fasteners.

Orpine is good stuff. Very gently on wax. I started using it just on the boat. Now I use it for the cars too. I'll have to give Attwood non-skid cleaner a try sometime. Although I don't wash my boat very much since I started using Aurora products to polish it. I just rinse it well and watch the water bead.

I'll go +3 on Orpine. I never heard of it before moving to SC, now it is the only soap I use.

+1 on Orpine Boat Soap - I get the green one with wax. I've used it for years - good stuff.

That is probably where it got under the sheet metal laps and could not be properly rinsed.

My wife and I use the Orpine on our vehicles also.

I mainly use it on my fishing boat. I use Sure Step, but clean with Attwood.
I brush on the non skid cleaner, let foam up, wait a couple minutes then rinse off.
It used to be cheap, but price started going up.
