Does anyone know about the removal of bottom paint using CO2?

Mine has lost it's adhension and is flaking off. I've had widely varying estimates for Soda Blasting (up to $125 a foot!).

I've found a company that does it via C02 and the price seems reasonable.

Any comments?

I've always said with any form of media blasting that the skill of the operator was way more important than the specific media used. Media blasting is one discipline that can damage your bottom significantly if done by an inexperienced operator.

CO2 blasting is kind of a cool process, but personally I'd still try to not get caught up in the appeal of the mechanics. You simply need to have your bottom paint removed safely.

Personally, these days its hard to beat a skilled operator of a decent (Fein) vacuum sander. They did my 48 in just a few hours and when its done, there is no mess to pick up. The prices in my case were bit of a package deal, so hard to nail down but definately cost me less than $125 a foot. I was probably in the 125/foot range including painting (but not the cost of the paint). It was all done in 2 days by only one guy.
