Cutting a Speaker hole.

My mistake! Whatever you need to give you that little bit of courage to hack some holes in a perfectly good boat, go for it.

Bob, those cubbies look good, well done. Also the relocate of the light worked well too.

Well, the speaker hole cutting was a success.

First I checked the area behind the future hole for clearance.

I used a jigsaw with a scroll handle that allows you to turn the blade for tight corners.

As suggested I used a Dewalt metal cutting blade, with fine teeth.

Taped off the entire area, and marked the hole cutting line with the template. After marking your cut line, drill a small hole in the center and drive in a small screw. Tie a string to the screw so you can retrieve the cutout after it falls in. This assumes that you may not be able to access that area.

Then remove the template because you'll need it again for the other side.

This was a thin area so no wood backing to cut thru.

The metal blade cut like butter, and left a perfect clean edge.

I highly suggest someone holding a vacume hose for you as you cut. Much easier cleanup.

Thanks for all the advice.

i learned a great trick about cutting holes in glass, use shaving cream below the cut out. it catches all the dust that falls on it and is really easy to wipe up when you are done. that trick has saved me all kinds of time.

I love threads like this. No politics, no bigoted or snid remarks. Good query, good answers from experienced and knowledgable members and with pictures. Congrats!
