I saw an article about our "representatives" in Congress increasing the legal limit of corn oil in our gas from 10 to 15.

I cannot find any confirmation.

Any thoughts or knowledge?

Joe

BoatUS has a lot on it and has been fighting it.

Lots and lots of previous discussion on this. Optional at the land pumps. Reportedly illegal to use in marine applications , or motorcycles, small landscaping-type engines and road vehicles not specified as E15 compatible I believe.

Here's an excerpt from the EPA website:
"What Vehicles and Engines May Not Use E15?
•All motorcycles
•All vehicles with heavy-duty engines, such as school buses, transit buses, and delivery trucks
•All off-road vehicles, such as boats and snowmobiles
•All engines in off-road equipment, such as lawnmowers and chain saws
•All MY2000 and older cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty passenger vehicles (SUVs) "

If you have a yr 2000 or newer compatible vehicle, but don't want to pay lower price for even lower mileage economy, choose another option which must be available.

I know that the Government corn oil boondoggle has hurt boat owners from the inception but I am inquiring about any "new" congressional actions to further the destruction of boat engines and tanks.

Guess that I there is really nothing new form our enemies in Congress.

But...they're from the gubmint and are here to help you. :D

The increase in Ethanol percent arises via an Administration ruling based on Legislation decades ago that gave the President some power to increase ethanol use. This was at a time when we were told we are running out of oil and ethanol was thought to be an alternative.
This has been a constant battle and the Large Ethanol producers are constantly lobbying to increase ethanol content.
Various groups have been fighting this based on evidence that many vehicles on the road can not reliably burn 15% ethanol.

The other problem is that special pumps are required and most stations do not want to go through the expense of a 4 th pump with errors of pumping into the wrong car.

The administration is subsidizing installation of additional E 15 pumps to satisfy the Ethanol Lobby. I forget the cost, but it is not small change.

It is not Congress but the Administration you need to blame

“To enable widespread use of E15, the Obama Administration has set a goal to help fueling station owners install 10,000 blender pumps over the next 5 years,” stated an EPA press release on April 2.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), which represents 225,000 members across the country, has reached out to the EPA over their concern over E15.

“At the current time we’re not aware of any manufacturer of motorcycles that has approved E15 for the use in motorcycle engines,” said AMA Spokesperson Pete terHorst. “So, the AMA has been asking the EPA what it will do to prevent the inadvertent fueling of motorcycles with E15 fuel. That’s a big concern to our members.”

TerHorst said the mandate is not feasible. “The EPA’s solution to that problem is, ‘Well, we’re going to require everybody to buy 4 gallons of gas so it will dilute the effects of E15,’” he said.
