I have an older fiberglass boat and the bridge floor is delaminating near the edge. It is not worth a full out restoration so I am wondering about my options and products to use. It is delaminating at the edge -where I have easy access - and I am wondering about removing the spongy material - as best I can and refilling. Any ideas? Suggested products?

Thanks.

Note - I thinkl I have eliminated the source of the water into the core.

I have a similar issue. Have you received and guidance or tried anything?

I'm no expert, and have not tried this method, but have heard of drilling small holes and filling with epoxy, or some other liquid/hardening material to fill the void created by the core material disintegrating...

Perhaps others can offer better advice?

If the damage is limited, drilling holes, letting it dry and injecting epoxy is an option. If the delanination extends over a larger area, say 1 sq ft, the right way to do it is to cut out the top skin, dig out the rotten core, replace the core and reseal.

Of course I m assuming you have balsa core but if you have delanination it has to be rotten core

There is so much info you haven't supplied that a specific repair procedure can't be given.

As mentioned, what kind of core material.
How big of an area are you talking about.
How much weight does this thing need to support.
How is this area supported.

I agree, Pascal. If the delamination is in a high-traffic or load-bearing area the proper repair is in order...
