Fine Scratches in Stainless Steel

Is there a way to buff out fine scratches in stainless steel? These are not deep.

Maybe Barkeeper's Friend. I was just at a home appliance parts house and they had a product specifically for scratches in stainless. I only know it was there, didn't look at it. Such a place might be a source for you if others don't come up with something.
 
What you do depends on the quality of the finish. Kitchen sink type finish scratches can often be hidden by using a green scrubby in the direction of the SS finish pattern.
High gloss SS will require polishing with decreasing levels of abrasive. Do a web search on metal polishing.
Just using an abrasive on polished SS might roughen the entire surface. That might be an easier solution; just remove the gloss and hide the scratch.
 
There are SS polishing compound that come in sticks just like all polishing compounds.Just get a polishing wheel chucked on a drill and have at it. Be careful, polishing wheels can grab.
 
The sticks that go with the buffing wheel are called rouge. Black works well for fine scratches. Craftsman used to have a set with red, white and black.
Apply the black rouge to your buffing wheel while its spinning, and start buffing. Scratches will disappear.
 
2000 grit sandpaper, polishng compound, finesse-it... works for me...
 
Polishing is a good idea unless your stainless object has a brushed finish. If so, you will have to somehow match the old finish which is very hard to do. You might end up doing the whole thing.
