Is there a primer on how to repair a boot stripe? I've got about 3" - 4" of damaged (scraped) stripe decal. Can I "cut in" some new stripe? Or do I have to remove the whole side of the boat?

You can razor cut the decal where it's damaged & remove that part with a blow dryer or heat gun. Clean off the area with 3M adhesive remover (or similar). Then dry cut the new decal to test fit. Spray the area with water & a drop or two of dishwashing liquid mixed in. This will let the decal slip on the wet surface until you have it where you want it? Then start pressing with a plastic straight edge spread out the middle towards the edges to squeez out the water & air bubbles. Let it dry...Done.

Betcha patch will shrink enuff to see void on each end. Not pretty but I'd overlap a fraction of an inch. After a year or so; run razor thru both layers; remove 2 plies & you s/b fine.

I've patched mine in a few places over the years. I always overlap at least 1/8 ". Never had a problem

REAL men use Duck Tape. Sorry, someone had to say it!!!

Really, the overlap method will work fine.
