Isleton Crawdad Festival is history

Yeah it is a done deal. Isleton couldn't put together the funding to keep it going and the charges from the various agencies (police, fire, etc.) were very expensive in this area. They still owed money to people from the last festival. By selling the rights to it, they were able to get enough money to pay off most if not all of their debts. It's sad to see it go, but was probably the right move.
 
Yeah, we've sucked a lot of heads at that festival over the years. [:-vamp]

We stopped going about 5 years ago. Too much nonsense "behind the scenes" for us.

Sadly, another Delta institution bites the dust...

Is a shame the old delta institutions seem to be slowly fading away. Was also surprised to see the Hotel Del Rio in Isleton, all boarded up. Seems the folks who purchased it from Charli Hand ran it into the ground. Guess no more prime rid dinner there.

Here is the link for the new Red Bluff Crawdad Festvial in case anybody is interested. Might make for a good excuse to get away for a long weekend. A friend pointed out it won't be the same with it not being on the water.

How many crawdads can possibly be up there? I'll bet they'll be shipping truck loads from the delta.

More like Louisiana, but it was a nice thought...
 
how funny im from red bluff. we just got rid of our vacation home up there becuase the feds ordered that the diversion damn be removed to help the salmon population, thus getting rid of lake red bluff, which is the primary source of recreation in that town. we lost the boat drags after 20 some odd years last year because of it.

rwildhorse ranch is NO WHERE NEAR any kind of water that i know of. its way out on hwy 36. will be a very strange and VERY HOT place to have a crawdad festival!
 
Yup, all the 'bugs at the Red Bluff fest, as well as those from the late Isleton fest, will be shipped in from Louisiana. Will assume that the crawdads at Bob's (The Master Baiter) Bait Shop are all caught locally. Had a crawdad boil about a month ago. Got them from Bob's. They were enormous - the biggest I ever remember seeing.

If that's the case, I hope everyone up there doesn't mind a little crude oil with their crawdads.
