Looking forward to the weekend

The only negative is the current. There is no sea wall so views are terrific but docks do a limited job of knocking down current and wakes. Not sure that this is common but dock master warned us when we were still out in the river so this obviously is an issue here they deal with. Hogan seemed to fair well coming in but I got pushed around. I love making dramatic entrances to new ports. Watched another fly bridge enter after me and he was obviously a member. Very interesting how they manage it . The guy let the current push him sideways about 15 slips then slid into his spot at the end. I've done this for a slip or two in wind but never the entire length of a marina.
 
How is it today? I would think what you are describing is tidal and timing is key.
 
Yes, Dave, it's the tidal flow. It's pretty wicked. We're going to try to time our departure for slack tide.

It's another gorgeous sunny morning. We'll take a slow trip back home and enjoy the day!
 
Being the boat is out we are planning on visiting the October-fest at Bear Mountain.
 
I of course will be leaving shortly the wind and current are both moving pretty good now so I might as well leave as I came in. Bring the buffers and gel coat repair.

Glad to hear he got out safely! I'm guessing that with the larger props you had less trouble even without the bow thruster. In strong tidal wide the thruster can't compete with the tide.

You might not make it, Dave. Last weekend both entrance roads were closed most of the day and people were parking on the PIP sholder and along 9-W. The state police and the park police were very busy writing ticket to parked cars. I just wanted to go over the bridge and that took almost a half hour. Good luck.
 
Was in Harriman yesterday just out for a ride. I don't know why it's different this year but
it was packed, much more so than usual & i've been hiking there for 20 plus years.
Even the Silver Mine area which is usually more of a local spot was jam packed with cars, and the road leading
to Perkins was impassable. It's nice seeing so many people enjoying that great area but
it really aggravates the heck out of me when I see the mess so many of them leave behind. Never understand
why people go to a gorgeous place to get out of the city, then leave it looking like one!!!

It's amazing what you can do with your eyes closed. Hope you got out smoothly.

I have been going for the last several years, you need to get an early start or forget about it! We were lucky got a great spot in the main lot. There was a little traffic when I got there but not too bad. By the time I left I couldn't believe what was doing there. There were cars everywhere including parked on the median of the Palisades it was a mad house or sure!

It was nice we had a nice walk around the lake and the zoo even enjoyed a Knockwurst.

It was a beautiful day this was a view from the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Speaking about our Bear Mountain bridge, last winter in Florida we went to the Southland Mall in Miami. We went because it was too rainy to fish so the admiral wanted to shop. In the food court there was a carosel. All around the top were murals of scenes all around the country, just like the Bear Mountain carosel has. One scene was the Mini-Ha-Ha excursion boat on Lake George and another was a picture taken a the overlook on Perkins point of the bridge and the river. I have the same picture home that I took. How did that scene end up on a carosel in Florida. There was no notation saying where each scene was. No one would know where it was unless they lived around here.
