Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more of your journey.

That IS a long day! You had some good company along side for a while. We always worried when they came at us head on and dove under the bow. I bet you were happy to have the Cummins installed. Are they more quiet that the Detroits?

Yeah a little quieter although the naturals weren’t too loud. Dolphins always seem to love riding the underwater wave alongside a Hatteras at hull speed.

Today will be a shorter day to Pine Island (Ft Myers) but we got some rough stuff early in dodging squalls while going around cape Romano shoals. Nasty for a while.

I often do 15-18 hours to and from the Exumas but in the nice quiet air conditioned raised pilot house for a 110 footer :). Getting spoiled

Are y'all planning any longer stops on the way? If you would like a bit of rest before entering the river systems then the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area might be a good choice. You could enter at Perdido Pass and get on the ICW to Mobile Bay. There are quite a few on water restaurants with transient dockage. At the Gulf Shores bridge you would find LuLu's, Tacky Jacks, and Acme Oyster House, with LuLu's & Tacky Jacks having some good non-seafood choices as well. Tacky's has a breakfast menu as well if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for the info. We re going to run the icw from Carabelle, I like that stretch.

We may stop for a couple of night along the way, not sure. Naomi has to fly back to Miami for two days on the 10th. We ll look at possible flights after we cross big bend in case of weather delays. She may fly out of Pensacola and meet me in Mobile. We ll see

Don’t care much about restaurants stops. We do a better job on board ans are fully provisioned :)

FWIW-- I understand LuLu's (Jimmy Buffett's sister's place) has a pretty good bar and nightly entertainment! Can't verify personally 'cause we don't eat out or do the band/bar thing.

Day 4 started with a shredded belt on the gen and ended up at a marina with failed shore power, wrong slip assignment.

At least the generator was nice enough to wait till 8/30 in morning to shed that belt so we have a full night slip. I should have replaced the belts before leaving, I did on the mains… but to make things worst I didn’t have both spares. Luckily we were anchored across from a friends house who picked up Naomi with their boat and drove her to an auto store in Cape Coral… installed both new belt and got under way

Because of the delay we got to Sarasota at 9pm.

When I called the dockmasters office I was assured the temporary power in the new rebuild docks would be on and to set up for a port side tie. Turned out to be the wrong side so we took the next slip but none of slips had power. Spent the night on gen…. But at least they gave me a 50% discount on dockage.

We would have loved to say hello as you came through our area, but we are currently up in Minnesota until Tuesday. Safe travels.

Thanks for sharing a trip many of us can only dream about 😀

Short run yesterday from Sarasota to Bradenton to visit friends. We stayed at Twin Dolphin Marina which turned out to be a great place. Friendly staff, good power and a nice swimming pool to cool off.

Being Sunday traffic in the ICW was a busy with a few wakes thrown out way…

Before leaving Marina Jack we got together for coffee with Nancy a former BE member and owner of Charmer the 70 Johnson I used to run till 2016.

Today, we ll head towards Tarpon Spring and anchor behind Anclote Key. Weather permitting we ll do the Big Bend Jump to Carabelle tomorrow or maybe go to Steinahatchee to shorten the jump.

Love the dolphins, always fun to watch. Reminds me of when we lived in Pensacola !
