Will be transiting Moriches Bay next month on my way from Babylon to Greenport. Last year the straight-through northern channel was dredged and open.

Is it still in good shape?

A friend got this from Sea Tow:
North channel is open, but very shallow between 26 and 27. South channel is alternative. both are open.

Call Sea Tow, if you're not a member , join. Great crew, and will give you all you need to know and escort you if needed. Need to know stuff in Moriches bay changes weekly, Sea Tow is your source for such.

buddy ran tru last month. Same as last year. slight jog. Hit it at high tide and ull be fine

Made it through no problem. I draft 36" didn't kick up any sand 2 hrs after CG high tide. I wouldn't want to wait any longer after high then that .

Ran thru north channel today, an hour after coast guard station high tide. Never saw less than 4.8'. Just like last year.

Heading east tommorow. May try outside early am but if snotty may come in and go thru.
I draft 42". Wish me luck.

Outside was lousy. 4' and not well spaced.
Did inside. No issues.
5' of water.
We hit 30 min after high tide.

Basically heading east slow down at red 24.
Then crawl at about 8kts so you have some speed if you do touch.
Split red 26 on right. Green 27. Go down middle.
Remember red on right going east. It will look like the green is so close to red and you are tempted to take green on right. That is wrong.
Then hug red 28 on right as well staying south in channel
After red 28 back on plane!
Heading west reverse it!
