many years back, early 80's, the Tennessee River (upper end of Lake Guntersville) near Scottsboro, Al was full of milfoil. It was bass fishing heaven and you almost had the whole area to yourself. A added bonus that was almost unknown to people was the catfish loved the milfoil and fed right at surface where a watchful person could see their whiskers poke out of the water as they strained the water through their mouth. We took many a nice mess of catfish home while bowfishing. Then things begin to change, first the commercial fishing people learned about the catfish and their nets destroyed the catfish fishery. Then the recreational boaters demanded the removal of the milfoil. It was killed off, like you see up there, and for a number of years the bass fishing suffered. As time went along the bass fishing improved or at least the the catching did. Then the developers moved in and built up the shoreline. People don't believe how unused that area was back then because all they see now is the massive crowds today. Time marches on....
