I have some older large soft plastic and expensive offshore baits of which a few have developed a "sticky" feel. I've washed in warm mild dish soap, rinsed, and dried which has helped but not totally restored normal touch. Does anyone know a sure way to get rid of the sticky?????

No suggestions but I'm going to follow this since I have the same problem with a few. I'm guessing there is something in the material the specific manufacturer uses sine only a few have this problem.

Hopefully someone will have a idea....

I haven't used it in many years, but (and still might be) there was several bait scents that you squirted or rubbed on lures to attract fish. Perhaps the cream/salve types would keep the baits from being sticky.
(As I recollect, they weren't worth a sh*t on Lake Michigan Coho, Steelhead, or King salmon.)

I used some of those bait scents for a while as well, with the same result you mention. I think, like many fishing 'baits', they are meant to catch the fisherman rather than the fish. :)
