The yard where I store my boat has used red Interlux ACT exclusively for the last three seasons. I've seen pictures of boats similar to mine with a really bright red antifouling paint, and like the look. I am thinking that it must be Petit Vivid.

Anyone have any luck with this brand or know the characteristics in a Northeastern salt environment.

Funny I just saw this post. I am about to switch from Interlux Extra "Shark White" to the Vivid "white". It's about $50 cheaper. The Shark White goes on sort of greyish, not white and fades to a light blueish color. The owner of the sailboat we race uses the Vivid white. It goes on perfectly white and does not change colors during the season. I would imagine the other colors are just as "vivid". He has very good luck in a high fouling area. The other nice thing is he sprays it on and then we sand it with wet sandpaper. It smooths out like glass. Overkill for a powerboat, but still, I like the texture and the color is a perfect white. The Pettit site says I can switch from Extra to Vivid with just a heavy sanding which I do anyway. So we'll see.

Next question on this, Petit has a product called 'Vivid Free' which looks like it has less copper percentage than the regular Vivid product.

I have waterjets (like the boat pictured in my example) and I know that copper and aluminum next to each other is a no-no. Would it be adviseable or worth it to use the 'Free' product? its about the same money, but there are not as many base colors available, so a red color would have to be custom mixed.

Could be Vivid. Or, Inlerlux's Trilux has a VERY red bottom paint...designed for metal boats but can be used on fiberglass as well. We have several Marinettes and Chris Craft Roamers with this red...and it is very bright.
