Hi,

As I recall you had some "issues" with some canvas work not too long ago. I slip at Bradbury's and am in need of some re-stitching. Had some stitching pull apart when I exerted a little too much pressure trying to snap things up.

The "G...M.. Canvas Shop" is right around the corner at Trade-a-Yacht, and the Awning Mart in Cicero is on my ride home. Before I investigate the logistics with them, are either of these a place I should avoid?

Feel free to send me a message at: s dot krell at verizon dot net, if you feel more comfortable. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,

Scott

Sorry I haven't responded sooner but I just saw this just now at 4 am Monday morning. Personally I'd stay away from BOTH of those places. McGee thinks he's the only place in town and charges that way too. I'm not real happy with the work that was done on mine but it is what it is and I'll live with it. If it wasn't for the fact that Leon Corcoran (who is ALSO right down the road from Bradbury's) just doesn't have the help anymore and because he's somewhat disabled and just doesn't do complete canvass on bigger boats anymore...THAT is the guy that I would recommend to any and every body.
Leon is a great guy and fully guarantees everything he does so if you've got a repair that you need done on a piece that you can take to him I'm positive you'll be quite satisfied with his work. He;s NOT a Butcher and is a geek about quality. He did a Sea Ray (comp;ete camper enclosure) for me in the past and a year later I had a small leak at some stitching around on side of the windshield. Took him the piece and he repaired it for me (no charge) the next day and you could never tell that it had been taken apart and re-done.
Google Corcoran's Custom Canvass Brewerton New York and you'll see that he's only about a half mile or less from Bradbury's. He's on the right on Rt. 37 just past the entrance to Bradbury's. If nothing else at least give him a call.

HI,

Thanks for the reply. Since I posted, a co-worker also mentioned a guy that is just up the street from Bradbury's, but couldn't remember his name. Must the same place. With what I need done, I can remove the bimini top and bring it to him to restitch. While I am at it, maybe he can put some zippers on the pockets that hold the metal frame so I don't have to dismantle everything to get it off for cleaning in the future.

Thanks again and maybe I'll see you on the water. We usually anchor out by the islands. Too old for the 3 mile bay crowd :-)

Thanks again,

Scott

I've been to old for the 3-mile bay crowd for alot of years now. Do you Anchor on the south side of the islands? If so ...then you're probably familiar with Maple bay just southeast of the Islands. When we hang out close to home...that's usually where we can be found. Bottom is like three mile bay and not a big noisy crowd. My boat usually isn't hard to find.....

Yep, usually off the south side. Like to head to Billington when we get the occasional weekday outing. We have travelled into Maple Bay, but I got nervous with the amount of weeds I was encountering. Probably came in from the wrong direction. I was fishing off of Fisher Bay area and approach parallel to the south shore.

Not sure if we will make it out this weekend, but will definitely keep an eye out for you. Although we don't have a name officially printed on the stern, our unofficial name is "Perfect Fit." Thanks again for the canvas info. Looks like I may need to wait a few weeks before I can get it looked at. Home A/C just died, and with a 20 year old furnace, just bit the bullet for a whole new system. There goes my start to savings for a larger Regal. Install this Thursday. Why does it have to happen on the first 3 hottest days of the year? :-)
