Almost every trip home from Greenport NY to Essex, Ct is met with inconsiderate boaters that pass us very close doing 25 kts. We travel the infamous 8 kts and frequently the faster boats don't understand the damage that their wake does. Getting their boat name is not possible because they have their tender strapped up on the transom.

Come on guys, pass at a safe distance for both of us.

Rant over

Tom
I'll keep an eye out for you the next time I go to Essex:D

Where between Greenport and Essex is this happening?

Your only defense is to travel outside the direct path from point to point.

Most of the time it happens in the open waters from Plum Gut to Old Saybrook.
Bruce, that is our plan from now on, but at 8 kts we try and always travel point to point, lol.

I guess most boaters are in a hurry to get home on Sunday evenings, but it gets a little ridiculous.

I don't expect any boats in open waters to slow down for other boats. I agree, they should at least give you some distance.
