My new (to me) boat has a port tank that isn't budging on the gauge, the starboard one is dropping though. Thinking it may be the selector valves and someone fiddled with them at the boat show before I purchased. They aren't labeled. I tried to make changes but killed the engine in the process. Can anyone assist so I can properly label and empty my tanks evenly?

Thanks,

Jim

Need to know if you have diesel or gas engines. The valving is different.

Gasoline. The pic isn't showing. I'm staying on the boat again tonight, I'll try to post tomorrow.

Thanks,

Jim

These are the pictures from my 3780. The engines draw off their respective tanks and the genset is drawing off the port tank, I hope this helps.

I experienced the same problem. The generator valve on my boat is on the right hand side of the first picture. The sticker from Regal shows that the two outside vales correspond to the tank locations for the engines and as such you would assume that the middle one is for the generator. It is not. It is on the right hand side.

This is probably how your left and centre values are at the moment.

This is important to know if you have to pull from one tank only.

Well, I am hella confused now. This is how my valves look at the moment. This means either the port fuel gauge is bad or my boat is plumbed oddly. I'll try to troubleshoot this weekend. It will be cold and I'll have plenty of time!

To just be drawing off of one tank you would have to have one of the valves turned up.

:-( Looks like I have a bad gauge and/or sending unit?

Thanks for the input. Any advice on trouble shooting further? The gauge is stuck around 3/4 tank, the other was there but has since dropped to 1/4 with some use of the boat.

Are there 2 tanks or 3?

Thanks,

Jim

There are 2 fuel tanks. Access for the starboard sending unit is under the salon stairs and for the port tank, under the salon seating (central vac system).

Thanks for the info. Gas kind of scares me, and I've never touched a sending unit. Is this something I can troubleshoot myself? Or should I just fill the tanks fir the next 4 weeks and leave it to the mechanic over the winter?

Thanks,

Jim

Easy enough to troubleshoot, but if not comfortable, leave for a professional. My port sending unit has been broken for ~3 years and it is extremely difficult to access for change. I am comfortable simply adding an additional few gallons to that tank since the genset draws from it too.
