Happy New Year everybody,
It's been a couple of years of refurbishing and refitting the ship, but it's finally ready for a vacation cruise. I want to go to Block, Newport, and Greenport or Montauk. In the past I stayed at Payne's in Block, and Banister's in Newport. Are these places still the same or is their a better place. In Greenport I have stayed at Townsend's. How is Mitchel's, it is closer to town. In Montauk I stayed at the Yacht club. What do you guys think?

Billy,
Believe it or not the last 2 times in block, we stayed at champlins. Non holiday weekends. The son took over it and he does not like to raft like the old days. Both times I requested a floater and got a floater. it's a fun place for kids and adults. My second choice would be the boat basin. Newport I have not been at in a while, last time I stayed at the Newport Hotel. It was nice. I hear good things about Banister's still. Greenport we always do Townsends. Short walk to town. Brewers is a far walk and anything else is rocky. Montauk, do the yacht club. We had a breakdown on another boat and got stuck at Star, it's more of a fishing marina.

FYI - We will be docked in Riverhead for the whole month of August! Probably do a big trip right before that.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the info.
My tentative plans are to get to Block on Saturday 7/15, to Newport 7/18, and Greenport 7/21.
Is Champlain's really different? It is nicer, but Payne's has always been less of a hassle.
In Newport I was thinking about Newport Marina or Bannister's.
In Greenport Townsend"s is nice but I remember it as really run down. Have you ever stayed at Mitchel's?
Where are you staying in Riverhead and are you going on trips from there?
Hope to see you soon.
