I have a number of exterior teak trim pieces that need replacement. Before I purchase new teak trims, is there anything else worth considering? I know nothing looks as good as teak but I have run across some man-made materials that appear to look good but does anyone have experience with these man-made materials and do they weather well?

I would recommend a wood that is known as African teak....it's called Iroko.
I have used it and after it's finished you couldn't tell it isn't teak....and it's less that 1/2 the price of teak .

Teak trim is not teak decking. There really is not synthetic replacement for teak trim that looks like teak.

There are synthetic replacement to teak decking.

If you're going to keep natural or just oil, teak is hard to replace. If you r going to finish as bright work, mahogany is a lot cheaper, looks very good and very resistant to the elements. I also use jatoba aka courbaril which is VERY hard although heavy.
