Hello Long Islanders: Looking for new places to visit this summer. Tired of Block, the Vineyard and Nantucket. Visited Sag harbor in my smaller boat yrs ago. Is there enough to do between Plum gut and say Fire Island?? How is the channel getting through? I heard there is a lot of shoaling and local knowledge is a must. We would be anchoring in our 36' Regal, 2 adults in our 40's, three kids (15, 12 and 9) and our newfy dog. We like exploring, fishing, scuba, kayaking(which we bring), beaches for playing. Not to much into the bar scene, quaint towns are good. We heard Billy Joels boat factory is a must to visit.
