With every load of ice that's produced there is random black specks in the cubes. Most are ok but in a full bin load there could be 15 or so cubes with the black specks. I have tried to determine what it is or where it's coming from but I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
P.s. The water is filtered to the unit and line is clean.

The liner of the ice tray is falling apart. Use a mirror to examine the ice tray when there is no water in it. If it looks as though the lining has flaked away or non uniform you know where it is coming from.

You will need to replace the icemaker portion of the unit. I would hold Uline responsible and make them send me a new one for free. The coating fails and the metal under it corrodes and enters the ice. That is where the dark flecks come from.

I have photos of an icemaker that failed after a year and a half. We always blew the system out with air and they tried to tell me we used anti freeze to protect the unit during Winter.
We were South after the installation of the new unit and never had to Winterize it anyway.

We gave up on uline.

I would upload a photo of what to look for but the site gave that aspect up. Basically there is a "plastic" kind of coating over the metal the refrigerant runs through. The heat and cold cycling of the icemaker boils the coating off. I think the metal under it is what is turning black and flaking off.

Do Not use the ICE!

We went with a NovaKool dual voltage refrigerator. The uline we had was a "combi" unit that only made ice well. Everything on the upper shelves was not very cold unless everything on the lower shelves was frozen.
Our requirements for ice are not that high and we manage fine with tray ice now and the capacity of the NovaKool is much better than the uline. Now all I have to do is pull the center window out of the boat so I can trash the full size Norcold for another NovaKool.
