The stitching on my cockpit seats is coming apart in some places (too much dancing on the seats apparently)! I am going to have the seats recovered next season, but want to try and get through this season with a quick "fix." Sewing the seats is too expensive, so I wanted to see if anyone has used any type of vinyl repair glue to keep stitching together. I saw a product called "Super Glue Vinyl & Leather Mender." Has anyone used something like this?

Thanks!

Try some colored duct tape---if it's just to get you through this season...

BryanK,

Where in Ohio are you located? I had the same problem with the rear facing seat in my Sea Ray.
Took the seat to Erb's Upholstery 2529 Township Road 406, Sugarcreek, OH 44681 and they were able to reupholster the whole seat (matches exactly)for about the price of a repair. Forgot the exact price but it was a no brainer to have it done.

you could save alot of labor cost to resew the seam if you pull the staples and bring the skin to a canvas/ upholstery shop. then restaple yourself. most times if somene comes in like this ill sew it in a minute at no charge

Thanks for the feedback. The quote I got to replace vs. repair definitely makes replacing a no-brainer as well. I would just like to try and hold off on this expense for another season. Great idea about removing the vinyl myself... the upholstery guy told me that is where all the labor is. I'll investigate whether what the cost would be if I did this part myself. Thanks!
