I had my little helder do some small trim on our boat and didn't check her work. The next day I noticed she applied heavy coats and it strated to bubble. Since it's early in the season I figured I would let it dry a few weeks, sand it and reapply.

after a month about 1/2 of the wood pieces are still tacky. so we scraped the bubbles off and put in the sun for a few days with no affect. sanding is just not an option yet.

One friend suggested slow baking (in the home oven) the trim pieces every night on 250 for an hour but I'm thinking something may cut or thing the linseed oil to help it dry quicker. then we can sand and reapply light coats.

thanks.

I believe mineral spirits will thin linseed oil. You need to be really careful with the rags when done. They will catch fire from spontaneous combustion if you wad them up and throw them away in the trash.

thanks guys. 2 out of 3 said mineral spirits, so we'll give it a shot. didn't want to get the wrong thinner and have a coagulated mess!

Read the instructions on the Linseed Oil container. It should tell you what is the thinner/cleanup agent.
