Last year we had a tire blow on the trailer and it scuffed the side of the boat. I have used Buff Magic and tried it but it did not fully remove the marks. The fiberglass is not damaged but there are still marks that can be seen. Since Buff Magic did not do the job, I figure I need something with a little more grit but I am hesitant since Buff Magic is the only thing I've used before.

Can any of you good folks give me some advice on what to use?

Thanks

If it's no more than rubber residue; try acetone. It will not harm the fiberglass unless you float the boat in it ! All else fails; wet sand with 1500 grit sandpaper.

There are slight abrasions or scuffs to the fiberglass, I should have said that to start with. They're not deep gouges but I think too much for Buff Magic.

I'm just trying to point out my experience is only with Buff Magic which I believe is more forgiving for people that are in-experienced with using a buffer. I just don't want to get some compound that I can easily screw up the finish on the boat with. I should have been more clear in my initial post.

I'll take a look at 3M.

Thanks

DOH! I just re-read Mike's sticky post. I'll follow it.

If anyone has a suggestion on a specific compound, let me know.

Thanks
