What looks like the original Motorola alternator on my 1976 Viking w/crusader 454 right hand ( opposite, or counter clockwise, or whatever it’s called) rotation engine quit working. I’ve been shopping for a replacement, and it appears ARCO 60104 is the one I am supposed to use.

but the fan doesn’t appear to be bi-directional. I called ARCO and they confirmed, the fan is shaped to blow air in when spinning clockwise. I sort of remember 25 years ago buying a different fan for the rh motor, but ARCO doesn’t sell anything. has anyone else run into this, or does everyone just use a standard alternator, and blow the air backwards?

My CCW comes with a 9mm, a .380 and a .38+p. No alternator. 😎

the old style had an external regulator, and I don’t want to stay with that. I think my charging problem is actually the regulator, but my alternator is worn and squeals - so as long as both need to be replaced, I’d rather to with something more modern. No reason for an external regulator on a 50 amp setup!
