Anti-skid: what roll-on product is best?

I need to replace the anti-skid surfaces on my '82 Carver 3007 aft cabin. The foredeck, side decks, command bridge sole, aft deck top, and swim platform all have a rolled-on anti-skid material. I want something that provides reasonable non-slip properties but isn't too hard on bare feet, knees, hands, etc.

Different products use different granulates: crushed walnut shell vs beads, etc. What products do you like? Any tips for how to get the best application?

Keep it simple and use something like Interlux, Interdeck. It is a one part deck paint that comes with the nonskid already in the paint. Just stir frequently and roll it on. I used it a few years ago on my aft deck and have been well pleased with the initial results and durability.
 
I used Interdeck last year, on one step, going into the cabin. I do not like the texture. Plus it's a PIA to keep clean.

I just purchased a quart of Kiwi Grip to redue the step. You might want to google it. It looks like the same material that was originally applied to the boat.
 
To each his own. I like the texture and mine cleans up easily.
 
I've used all kinds over the years. My best suggestion is buy a good brand of paint and add your own non-skid. Probably in you case, the medium grade rosin granules is best. For my purposes, sand works...but I only fish and nobody in their right mind would go bare foot cuz the waters are not friendly and the non-skid properties has to be fairly aggressive in case the fishing gets hot and heavy and there's no time to wash the slime off the decks.

Oh yeah, apply paint to the shape or pattern of your non skid area and sprinkle the non skid over the wet paint to the density you want. Let dry and put a cover coat to seal in the non-skid. The heaver the layer of non-skid applied, the harder to keep clean. You can always apply more if you feel the need...and it can be sanded off and re-applied years later.
 
What ever you do do not apply Poly Glo non skid resurfacer. It took a nasty fall last night on the swim platform in the rain and now have bruised ribs and a swollen ankle. I fell hard I am not sure how bad I am hurt, I just know I woke up this morning a bit worse than after the initial adrenalin wore off from the fall, impact and holding on to the aft cleat dock line.
I just applied the stuff on Saturday, next weekend my 1st priority is to remove it.

I will be fine Greg my wife wants me to get checked out but I have had this injury before 30 years ago. It's a pain you don't forget.
I have a big meeting tomorrow which includes about 6 hours of driving, if my wife keeps bugging me I may get checked out tomorrow night. I think she is getting tired of me making groaning noises when I aggravate it. Bruised ribs take time to heal it's not going to go away overnight.

Do not use Poly Glo no skid sealer, I just applied some to a rather aggresive no skid surface on my swim platform and had a fairly serious fall last night. I will be removing it next weekend if I physically am able if not I will hire the marina to remove it. I don't know how they can sell this stuff as a no skid sealer/treatment. It looks fantastic but add rain or water and my no skid is like a chunk of ice.

I have become a big fan of Aurora Marine products. My gel coat is as white as white can be and my decks are not slippery. Their product for non-skid is called Sure Step. Give the non-skid a good cleaning with Boat Clean or Boat Scrub, and two coats of Sure Step with a deck brush.

Bill, I hope you feel better and can make it through the meeting (although the pain might make it easier to stay awake :-)
 
I repainted my entire flying bridge deck and boat deck (where the Whaler is stored) with Awl-Grip 2 1/2 years ago, and used their small glassbeads. Both areas get a lot of use. I was happy enough with the results that I just had my swim platform completely refurbished with the same combo. This seems to be " just right" for shod, socked or bare feet, and cleans up nicely with plain water or a very light soap/water solution. Tough stains usually come up with Roll Off and elbow grease: we have our grill mounted up on the FB and birds like it too.
