We are spending the weekend at Hyannis so the in-laws can come and visit us. We will probably wind up taking them out for day cruse. Thanks for the info!

When your up the Hudson give us a shout, someone will mostly likely be out on the hook. Not sure if there is an official LICC/HRCC raftup this year.
 
We boat on the North Shore and like JohnC, we like to keep alot of weekends open so that we can adjust to the weather. Typically, we have planned cruises for longer periods or events that require reservations.

Each year, I am miffed by some restriction placed on reservations. Last year, Champlins had a 21 day cancellation policy which is rediculous. This year, Montauk Yacht Club surprised me with a 45foot minimum for Labor Day weekend.

It seems that almost every weekend is a HRCC raft-up in either Croton or Bowline so it is up to the LICC to pick a date and show up....

that 45 foot min was suppposed to be a 40' min all season.....

Guess they changed it up alittle ...

That place is sooo in the red and for sale still...

I'm not surprised MYC is in the red. They have open slips, then say that you must be at least 45' to get one. So they will let dozens of smaller boats go elsewhere, while their slips sit empty!

Several years ago, we went there and were told we could only stay 2 nights, after the second night, I went to the dockmaster (John) and asked if we could stay longer. He told me we had to vacate the slip as it was going to be used. I asked him if he could put us in a different one, he said they were booked solid.

We went around to the other side of the island and got a slip at the motel/marina. For 3 days, we walked over and used MYC facilities and looked as the slip we were in - and many others - sat empty.

That's really odd. What would their motivation be for that?
 
We also got involved in the MYC 40' minimum scam a few years ago ...when we had our 28'DA...... We had to paid for a 40' slip....spent 2 nights...then got out of town....haven't been back since.
 
Since my LOA is actually 43, I'm not too upset. However, MYC takes a reservation and will not charge the credit card until 5 days before the weekend. You can also cancel up to 5 days before to get a refund and 48 hours for a credit.

At Star Insland, they require all 3 nights to be paid for in advance by check. You can get a refund if you cancel 14 days in advance (useless) or you get a credit for 48 hours in advance. Since I didn't want to write a check for the full amount now, I let the MYC reservation stand. Even though they would charge me based on a shorter LOA.

Both places require a 3 night stay for the holiday weekend.
