My Son and I should have stayed home yesterday. We headed out to Hood Canal to enjoy the last day of Dungeness crab season. My 1991 Arima Sea Hunter rolled off the EZ Unloader roller trailer really quick and the stern hit the launching ramp hard at a 40 degree angle. I am running a 2001 Suzuki 70 Hp 4 stroke (359lbs) and her sister a 9.9 4 stroke (97lbs) which makes the heavy in the stern. We took the boat out and there are no leaks and no visual cracks on the inside. Arima hulls consist of four pieces: Hull, grid system, interliner, and cockpit/deck. The transom is two sheets of 3/4 inch marine plywood sandwiched in fiberglass. The transom measures 21/4 inches thick. The damage is six inches long.
I was thinking of sanding it and filling it with West System 105 and finish it off with a gel-coat repair kit.
Help,
Terry in Bremerton
P. S. We didn't get any crab

if it is just a scape that will be fine. if the fiberglass is crushed or cracked it will need more extensive reapirs.

Well, the story started off GREAT. "Crab fishing with your son".

Pictures would help, how about the other two dimensions, depth and width?

Epoxy is OK, but alone it is brittle. Some thickening agents or depending on the depth a thin strip off fiberglass.
Typically on boats that are fitted with Outboards the Stern is the strongest part of the boat.
