"These detours will be opened on Tuesday August 18. The CMS sign will be changed to reflect these openings 1 week prior.
In summary:

1. Bethel Island detour will shift traffic on the south side of the levee to the west to allow construction of permanent work.

2. Wells Road detour will shift traffic south with 2 S-curves and a new exit/entrance on to Bethel Island road. This detour will allow Well road to be reconstructed to a higher grade.

Bethel Island Weekly Update

Roadwork: The Contractor continues to work on the Wells Rd. detour. Coming soon is the Bethel Island road detour which will detour traffic west of Bethel Island road from just south of Wells road to the existing bridge. This is to allow the Contractor more room to perform his work. The Wells road detour will detour traffic from south of Wells road to the conform point to allow the construction of the new Wells Road. The new Wells road will be approximately 13 feet higher than the existing grade. Accessing the Wells road detour from Bethel Island road will require traffic to slow down to 5 MPH so drive carefully.
Bridgework: There will be no pile driving this weekend. The foundation subcontractor completed installing the trestle on the North end; CC Myers has a couple more days next week at the south trestle. Driving pile will be Monday through Saturday, 7 am to 5pm.
On an as needed basis for safety reasons, traffic will be temporarily stopped for a period of 10-15 minutes. Please drive carefully and follow the warning signs posted around the project.
If you have any questions or would like a diagram of the Wells Rd and Bethel Island Rd detours, please visit or call the County#65533;s construction office, located atop the Marine Emporium, at 684-9264."
