Black Alum trim around windows and doors

Is the only way to clean these areas up to repaint with gloss or semi-gloss spray paint? Mine are very faded and chalky looking.

These areas ???? If you're talking about some black metal panels; try some Woody Wax spray before you paint. Dewax if you still decide to paint.

SEM Trim Black is great stuff. Holds up extremely well and easy to apply. I use it on my cars and works just as well on the boat.

BobCT, this appears to be a paint, yes ? If parts don't need repainting & are just faded & chalky; why not just try to recondition first with the Woody Wax.

Waxes, cleaners and polish didn't work for me. I ended up sanding the frames on my Mainship side slider windows and painting them with semi gloss they look great. That was 5 seasons ago and they still look good.
