Brown tide, don't be suprised when you see it

Water seems dirtier than usual this year, and I've been fishing a fair amount of debris out of the canal the last week or so. I haven't noticed the tides being higher than normal, but I guess they may have been. There is usually more crap floating in the water down here when the tides are higher. Probably floats off of property that gets flooded.

That foam is you murdering the defenseless microbes!
The liberals plan to do a swim in and they will be swimming the bay to stop boats from killing the poor defenseless creatures!
Such foam originates from microalgae and was likely released by the collapsing Mahogany Tide that was present and abundant last week. As the cells grow and die, they release organic compounds including proteins and polysaccharides that when agitated via small surface waves or boat wakes, foam up. This is harmless to humans and should dissipate soon as microbes degrade the organic matter. One troubling outcome to watch for would be if the brown tide is one of those microbes and begins to arise.

"Water temperature at around 75 degrees typically kills brown tide. But since it has been a cooler June, the brown tide could persist well into the summer." Is what I read, with the last two days very hot I think we are close to this temperature...
