Cinco-De-Mayo May 5th

Ok... it is just another excuse to have a dock party. We are most likely heading to Atlantque since we went to Kismet for the past two weekends and some good friends are going there also.

For the day will need to switch my brew of day Buds / Mike Hard Lemon Aid and night Vodka, to XXX and Tequila (Cabo Wabo). On another thought, maybe just a token shot of “T" , know my devil, with the “Russian Brew".

Man I start on Monday wishing for the weekend, especially boating season. Makes life go too fast… Seems last year I was 40, but in 3 weeks will be 50. [:-boggled]

Anyone else using 5/5 for a party day ?

I bet there will be a few no shows on the old landscaping truck….
 
When is "Cinco-de-Mayo"? And what does it mean?

It’s the equivalent to St. Pats well sort of; it is a Mexican party holiday that is celebrated by all. You can’t get near a Mexican restaurant on Cinco (5) De(of) Mayo(May)

I will celebrate any holiday that requires adult bevs... :--)
 
So, when is "cinco-de-mayo" this year? Hopefully, I didn't miss it!

Hogan, you are scaring me ;) Today is May 3rd Tomorrow is the 4th and then.....
It is the 5th (Cinco-de-Mayo) you sure you are not already celebrating... [:-party]
 
It's the education system. We're falling short in the math area this year.
 
So I understand correctly, it's somewhere after the 4th of May... but before the 6th of May?
 
Yup Hogan You got it right, nice of you to help them yankees understand the actual date of Cinco-de-Mayo.

So, why don't they just call it the "5th of May" - but in Mexican??? It seems those Mexicans have a different word for everything!

Had shrimp burrito in celebration today and now it's stinko de mayo...
 
Good Day here!

First boat trip with new first mate. He loved it. Met lots of other dogs, sniffed some nice A**.
Went to Cedar and saw Rob and Don. Dog loved sniffing and playing with Rob's dog and sniffing Don too!

Then home to a Cinco de Mayo party at Pollo Rico in Centereach. Nice place, good prices.

Boat ran fine, dog did well, good day!
 
We ended up with 7 boats from the LIYC at Atlantique, it was a wonderful day and a great early evening BBQ.

Dani-Lu stopped by and I had the pleasure of meeting him.

But the Cinco-De-Mayo gods only blessed us up to about 12:00mid, then someone got real mad at us… The winds began to blow bad, and I was in a big boy slip on the far west dock with front poles just at my bow. Most all of my traveling buds have bought bigger boats than me, so I docked with them since it was empty. At 1:00am I am out on the bow adjusting lines, bouncing like on a bull that got its oysters whacked…. very dangerous….. Everyone left early morning, but I chose to stay later because the WX said it was to subside a bit later, but it did only so slightly. When untying, I was afraid of going broad side since my slip was too big for me, but I worked it out and went back to much milder conditions on the mainland.

As a friend put it….. Saturday was lots of fun and Sunday was an adventure…. My comment is what a difference a day makes…
