I have 1990 Searay with original seats. The seats themselves are in fantastic shape, the stiching is perfect and the color is still vibrant..only problem is the the white part of the seat is filthy..Ive tried spray and clean, super clean, magic eraser, and about 3 dozen other products..

Im thinking about just using straight bleech..would the bleech hurt the other color vinyl? I have a hunter green vinyl, black and grey...??? will the bleech stain those colors???

Thanks

Do not use bleach as it will eventualy kill your stitching.

I also have a 90 Sea Ray. Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser followed by 303 protectant.

Will make them look like new.

i have the seats restiched every two years (because of the dogs). So im not worried about the stiching holding up...

ive tried the magic eraser and it doesnt do anything

Just yesterday I used Fantasic with bleachscrub brush on my old seats and they cleaned up really well.

Good luck
Niles

Get some Maguires Heavy Duty Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner and a small nylon bristle scrub brush. This stuff will make your seats look new. Best product i've ever found for cleaning white vinyl upholstery.

Thanks. I have tomorrow off and ill be doing it then.

Thanks all!

Ive tried the Mr Clean erasers and I dont think they are all that great..

Ive tried all the suggestions and nothing worked.

IF Maguire's didn't do it, the vinyl is beyond cleaning! You tried Maguire's Heavy Duty Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner with a scrub brush????

Im still on the search for maguires..Where did you get it???

I've never had your problem, but if I did, I would try making a paste of Bon Ami and water. Apply liberally and let it set for half hour or so. Rinse off thoroughly. Scrub any remaining spots with the paste and rinse again.

Let me know if this works.....I am amazed at things which will get clean with Bon Ami when nothing else [including Soft Scrub] seems to work!

Soft scrub works great on ground in dirt on vinyl. It does have bleach in it, but I apply with a sponge, wipe area and quickly wipe away with clean, wet rag and then dry surface.

So, you didn't reall try ALL the suggestions. I'm telling you, this stuff is amazing. I get it at my local NAPA store that has a lot of Maguire's products. It will also protect your vinyl, not potentially harm it like some cleansers may.

I tried all but the Maguires (since Im still looking for it) Auto zone didnt have it, and advanced auto parts didnt have it.

I think I know where a NAPA store is so Ill stop in there tomorrow and shall see.

Im willing to try anything at this point

IF you can't find it, do a google search. Worth the hassel to find it.

Yeah, I found it on google, at autogeek or something like that. Im in no rush really, its just once I get my mind set on getting something done I wont rest till its done..

Mr Clean Magic Eraser is pretty good but you have to follow the directions. Some folks don't and then they are not satisfied with the product.

No one product will be best for every situation. Chlorine bleach will often whiten organic stains but it will do nothing at all for grease, tar, black shoe marks, etc. And it will seriously degrade any stitching. Clean seats that are falling apart aren't much better than intact stained seats. I've used spray nine with moderate success.

On the topic of stains, vinyl can sometimes be stained beyond repair. The stain works its way into the vimyl where cleaning products cannot get to it. The actual color is gone.

Vinyl dye is an option when all else fails. You might want to consult an experienced pro for this, depending on the value of your boat.
