Compounding ...by hand

After I posted, I did a google on it. Yes, they shut down. What a shame! Very good product. I have about 1/2 can left. There is a product called Wizard that is similiar. I got some from a buddy a couple of years ago. Good stuff as well. A very fine polishing agent. My Corvette is older with lacquer paint. The paint is very smooth and shines; no hint of orange peel and does not rely on on clear coat for the shine.

Two questions:

If they won't let you use a buffer, what (besides hands) can you use?

If they forbid buffers, how does your marina deal with your wireless connection when presented with a stack overflow error.

HMMMM

Aurora does very well by hand. Follow the directions.

How about Liquid Glass Auto Polish, I totally forgot this product after I sold my '68 MB 250SL and lost interest in cars as other than transportation. It worked great and as advertised. Easy on / off, no swirls and a decent job of restoring deep colors.

David here is harbortowns phone # 1 321 453 0160. You can can call them anytime you want and ask any foolish questions you choose.
HMMMM
Liquid glass is a polish its pretty good too. I used to use it on my vette. I have some very light oxidation that a light compound should take off I am not sure a polish will. Your Benz sounds like a nice car. I am getting to that point with my vette it is a 90 with 50k miles. These old c-4's you need to be a contortionist to get in and out.

I shall call them. Can I use your name as a referral.

Bottom line is you are being denied access to private property. Is this really OK to you?

Again, Aurora products perform very well. Follow the directions.

I don't understand why some people think you can use a buffer when the marina has rules against it. Contracts are signed and the boat owner knows what is and what is not allowed. Some places allow for outside mechanics to come in; some don't; some make it possible but the process is difficult.
Jeff knows what he is allowed to do. If he doesn't like the rules, then he has to find some place else. It sounds like he likes it there so out come the rags instead of the buffer. Even if he could use a buffer, he would still have to hand compound the boat to get it to a great finish. Buffer's do a lot of the nasty work quick but the final, light detailing to get a fine finish is always done by hand.

It's amazing how I look for some help yet for the most part the responses seem to bash my marina first.
So lets end this here.
I signed my contract fully aware of their rules.
The marina has a great location and their hi and dri program is the best in the area and the cheapest.
They offer gas discounts to their tenants and their gas price is always the cheapest in Central Florida.
The best part is the people. I use my boat generally every week. 2 years ago I was not there for a month.
At that time I kept my boat in a slip. They called my house to see if everything was ok. I had informed them I was operated on for cancer and would be back to the boat in 2 weeks.
When I got there my boat was on the hard. They powerwashed and scraped my drives clean so I was good to go. AT NO CHARGE.
So David please call I insist on using my name and tell Rene I said hi.
So you can express any feling about my marina you choose, I just dont care about them.
At the end of the day my boat will clean up just fine with a hand compound and polish.

Lighten up Francis. The stack error statement was a joke.

I told you...twice...Use Aurora products. They work great and are meant to be hand applied. Did my new to me '01 2465 Regal with them in '06 and removed 5 years of grime. Their non-skid material gives a sheen as opposed to a deep shine. That's the only part of the boat that did not look showroom new. It's that good. I refrain from posting links to products here. Google aurora boat products.

I'd like to find a marina like that !

You can buy a bottle of 3M restore also for the real bad spots but the Finesse-It will work much better if you want the glazed look when your done waxing.

Some of the people around my marina have that "Glazed look" Im glad they dont own a boat.

I get that glazed look myself from time to time. Especially when the wife is reciting my honey do list.
I know aurora well.
I will try the finesse it as I pick it up locally, or if boatfix carries it, with my next order.

Jeff, I agree it is the best marina around! And yes it has some quirks but what marina doesn't. On memomorial day my boat was taking on water around the drives. (Volvo another story) We returned to Harbortown about 7pm and the finger piers were full. The only guy left at the gas pumps said put it in a slip we will get it tomorrow. I realized the bilge pumps were not keeping up with the flow of water and let the attendant know he first said sorry everyone is gone. He then looked at it and made a few calls and the fork lift operator was there in minutes on a holiday night. They pulled it and never charged a dime but when it was said and done there were four or five workers on my boat making sure all was right. Customer service like that is all but gone.

Charles and John are the best!!
Sorry to hear about your boat.
I hope it works out for you.
