Anyone familiar with the company. I got a catalog in the mail today and I have never heard of them. Obviously someone I have done boating related business with sold my address.
 
i've used them several times. some of their prices are excellent, some not so good. they are good if you need to return something.
 
I've bought from them. Good prices,and they ship quickly. Never had to return anything. They are heavily promoted on ActiveCaptain.
 
I have used them and they found a part I needed that was no longer being made. They ship very quickly.
 
Nice store front as well if you are close enough to visit.
 
I've been shopping with them for over twenty years, used to drive to New Rochelle just to walk around the store when they were there.

Compare prices, they are usually pretty good. The ship quickly and have a good return policy. Since Boat Fix is not in business, Defender is my number one go-to marine store.

I use them as often as possible. Their prices are usually better than other well known box marine stores. They are super helpful on the phone and will find products for you. Returns are a not an issue. Highly recommend them.
 
Because I have to import I watch the active Captain specials very closely. I wait until they offer something I need at a really great price then I add all the other things that I have been waiting to order.
I usually come out way ahead over buying locally this way.

They are my go to store since Boatfix shut down.
 
I used to use them to find mfg part # then look them up on Boatfix. I also bought from them when the price was right. I'll be using them this spring

I have used them several times over the years. They are good to deal with and have honest prices.
 
BTW, if you can wait until boat shows, they usually run wicked sales during boat shows.
Sort of their way of saying, don't go to the show to buy, buy here.
If I need a item and I can wait, I usually do that.
Last 2 items I bought from them were my Dinghy and Satellite Tv. 2 high ticket items and they were best price around.

I also used to use them to find part # to order from Boatfix because the boatfix search never worked right for me.

I purchase most of my online stuff from them. I often use their prices to get a price match at the local West Marine.
 
Their site is great, finding items is easy and their service is good. I have been using them for about 10 years. When BoatFix was in business many times I would become so frustrated trying to find an item on the BoatFix site that I would quit and order from Defender.
