Defender

If you are lucky enough to live near the store in Waterford, Connecticut, they have a huge Spring Clearance Sale in April. Manufacture reps on site, huge saving. They move lots of stuff during that time.

Great place to visit too, especially the dusty discontinued aisle. All kinds of neat stuff hidden in there.

Correction, Warehouse sale this year is March 21-24.

I really like Defender and echo most of the positive things said above. I have noticed that they are less competitive on price than they used to be and I've been buying less and less from them.

The spring sale/open house is a can`t miss for me...nothing signifies the start of the season better than a bunch of boaters with cabin fever on a glazed eye buying frenzy...

The last order I placed with them was last spring, during their warehouse sale. Be advised that if you order something they have in stock but perhaps in limited quantity during this time, they won't necessarily ship out right away as they cater to their walk-in customers for their sales event...first. Otherwise, good company to deal with.

Defender has been in business for years. I recently came across a Defender mail order catalog from 1971. I wonder if they will price match based on those published prices? After each description of a product it says "Write for more information".
