Delta GPS

Hi,
does anybody know which GPS-units cover the Delta terrestial and marine information?
Just bought a GPS 152 and was kind of disappointed finding out it only displays buoys etc., no shorelines etc.

Sorry if that is already answered, quit new in the forum and couldn't find a search function.

I know the Magellan meridian marine series has the Delta or most of it in there though the detail may vary. I was pretty happy with ours. I did a lot of research before I purchased my handheld unit 11 years ago, you may need to do the same as GPS has really improved since then.

Garmin has always had pretty good coverage of the Delta, but I'm not sure that any of the "driving" units will cross over for marine use. As I understand it, the "driving" units locate you on the closest known road if you are within a certain range. You certainly wouldn't want it to do that when using it for marine applications.

I've got a Garmin 276 that can have road and blue chart data loaded into it at the same time. You switch modes depending on whether you're in the car or on the boat. The marine charts have about the same level of detail as the paper NOAA charts.

I have a Lowrance iFinder H2O GPS with WAAS handheld. If you purchase the upgrade chip and use MapCreate you can create the exact area you want. By marking the options for both land and sea, you can use one chip for both. I have the entire Delta from Benicia to Sacramento highlighted on mine and can use it in the car as well as on the water without changing anything on the GPS unit.
