I'm looking at a boat that will need the diesel tanks cut up to remove them from the boat. We will try to replace the 2 large tanks with 4 small ones, that will get past the engines.

I could see cutting an access hole to clean the tank before chopping it up. The question is, how do you cut up the tank w/o risking a fire? Fill it with nitrogen?

diesel tanks usually do not require the care that a gas tank would require. Most I have seen simply use a grinder and "saw" them in to pieces.

all the best
