I few years ago i took on my first fiberglass build for a swim platform for a 270DA Sea ray. Link below. well i since moved into a different boat and of course am now building another one.

I am build this for a 86 Carver 3207 Aft Cabin. with the 80's style aft cabin you have a ladder leading down to the plate form. I am planning on putting a set of Fiberglass stairs down to it for the Kids and ease of access. i also going to incorporate a box/seat on the platform

I started with the stairs making a negative female plug. the boat has some interesting curves so i took quit a few trips to make sure the paper patters where correct. attached is the rough plug i will need to flair the plug and round the inside corners

I will update this post if anyone is interested in its progress

You get it worked out sand on your let us know , you just might be able to sale a few.:)
 
Oh ever looked at making a taller opening from the aft deck to the salon stairs like the 1988 and on 3607/3807' s

I should be finished with the plugs/molds mid March and the fiberglass lay up begging of April. You should be able to get quite a few pulls from these molds. I not sure what I plan doing with the molds when I am finished but if all goes well this could be a option for someone who would like the easy of acess down to the swimplatform and also a larger deck on the 3207.

ok question does the 3207 ,3607 and 3807 share the same measurements aft ? and whats your cost est.?

I Believe the 3607 is taller in that you have an additional step. I am not sure on how much taller. Also the beam is wider on the 3607.

Material including hardware should be around 1200+. And my labor which is where I probably saving the most on
 
This looks like quite the project. I can't wait to see the finished product. Looks great so far!
 
Im impressed..Looks great.

Ive always wondered why they didnt make the platforms larger for a DC boat..My pops old 43 Viking DC had a small platform..
 
This weekends progress

Added the nonskid pattern and sides for the platform and caulk/rounded the inside corner. Need to round the rest of the corner and paint/ and the tooling gelcote to the platform

Is the sketch and the mock up an inverted?

The sketch appears to offer more room than the mock up. What changed?

Yes these are inverted. They are the plug or molds for the fiberglass. you are in a since building from the bottom up. when demoded you flip the platform over and that is the top. In the next couple of weeks i will have the molds painted with tooling gel cote. Then they get waxed with a special wax about 8 times. At this point the actual work of the fiberglass is started.

In regards to the sketch the seat will be a little closer to the stairs. There will be about 20 inch between the stairs and the edge of the platform at its narrowest point. this about the same as the original. Around the seat area there will be more room. Also it most likely looks a little bit smaller at this point in that the blanked off sections for the stairs and seat is about 3 inch (including the rim on the stairs) larger than the stairs its self. The non-skid will be elevated about 3/16"
 
What is height of staircase, from top of swim platform to top of aft deck?
