What's up Chuck?

Hey Jonathon! Living a 10 gallon hat way of life here in Houston. Hoping to get that damn fishing boat I been talking about for the last few years. Starting over is a beotch!

Hello marsij... It wasn't as bad as we thought. Just some 30 knot winds and rain. Water came up about 2 ft in 12 hours. That is nothing compared to some bad cold fronts that dump a lot of rain when the tide is coming in.

Good luck Chuck. With the boat and the rain.

Departed Galveston, heading east, yesterday (Monday) mid-afternoon. Ferry wait was less than thirty minutes, traffic to High Island/Orange, I-10 was steady, some boats on trailers headed north. Gasoline lines at some stations on the island. Some stations sold out. Locals were just tieing everthing down. Marine traffic was light, a few smaller oilfield utility boats and crewboats headed north. Snapper Boats and shrimp boats headed north. Noticed a few oil tows pushing the bank in the ICWW, at High Island. All in all a lot of rain and some breeze expected. Hope all turns out OK.

There is a guy with a boat at the boat yard I keep my boat at who lives on Pleasure Island, Tx. He said they got some
70 MPH winds and a lot of rain this morning, plus the water came up a couple of feet. He has storm shutters on his house,
but lost 2 plexiglass windows on his patio and it tore up a swing.
My sister lives on the Cameron, La. coast. They lost elect. for about 8 to 10 hours and had a lot of 50 MPH winds and rain.
The tides there were up about 4 ft. The town is about 8 ft. above sea level.
This was mild compared to some wet cold fronts we have had in the winter, with the exception of the high tides.
The rain water running down the rivers at the same time the tides are coming in and the hard south winds at the same time
doesn't help either.
