Here's the deal: my current bridge enclosure panels are getting old and one is damaged, so it's time to have them re-done. I plan to replace 3 pieces each year over the next 3 years to spread the cost.
The existing panels are made with Strataglass but my canvas shop tells me in their opinion (30 years experience) it's not worth the additional cost over 40 mil Eisenglass. We're talking roughly double the material cost, so with 9 panels the cost difference will be significant.
I'm really on the fence here...the Strataglass has held up well for 10 years and I've got no complaint, but they're making me think twice. I've gotta admit, with proper care I know Eisenglass will last- a dockmate's SeaRay has it's original 1989 Eisenglass enclosure and it still looks great.

What do you think?

Here's what I have:

Lexan type products are much better even if you do constant maintenance on the vinyl stuff. A cheap way out is to use Lexan in the center and main sides then the vinyl in the others. You will see the difference.

pdecat, if by lexan, you're referring to EZ2CY product; now you're talking same real $$$$. Just the front center curtain could cost upwards of $800 & you must use a licensed installer. Strataglass is also 40 mil DP vinyl but with a scratch resistant coating, being the only difference.

poly carbonate such as Oceanclear.com can be sewn and are faily reasonable compared to ez2cy or rainier/ barrett bonded windows. You can save some going with crystal clear 20/20 wich is strataglas without the scratch risistant and uv coating. fwi bolth now also come in 60 guage!

Although it would be nice, I can't consider rigid panels like EZ2CY due to the high cost.

I'm not familiar with crystal clear 20/20- is it a branded eisenglass or something different?

Do you guys think the Strataglass coatings are worth the coin?

several brands of polycarbonate can be sewn, GE made Lexan but sold to somebody else. not as expensive as ez2cy but rigid and the thin stuff, 40ga??, can be curved well..

FWIW- EZ2CY, which is a really excellent boat canvas window-clears product is acrylic, not Lexan . Love my 15 yr old EZ2CY .

OK people- don't mean to sound harsh, but I'M NOT INTERESTED IN RIGID PANELS, OK??

I did some research on Crystal Clear 20/20. They claim it to be clearer that standard e-glass. I'll ask my shop to price it.
