Although the weather was gorgeous, I'm sick and tired of the constant north winds the past two years! Whatever happend to wind blowing out of the south in the summer??

Went to Bowline on Saturday, it was pretty crowded, but the water was completely flat. Tried Croton on Sunday, but got tired of the bouncing and idiots on jet skis who "idle" through, throwing out a big wake, so we moved over to Bowline, where it was like glass.

You wimp, we were there both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a bit rough bot not too bad. Sunday was great except for the idiots. We arrived at about 10am, the place was empty but as I'm dropping anchor some A-hole in a SeaRay goes right behind me, lets out his 2:1 scope. He was so close, I couldn't finish letting out my rode so I decided to retrieve anchor and move over. With the kids on board, I have to watch myself so I just looked at him and shrugged like "why". Of course, he never looked over the whole time we were there...frigging idiot!!!

I agree with the jetskis though, I wish the westchester police boat would stop them from making a wake in the anchorage. That's a much better use of time than random searches. Then there are my friends from the Croton Fire Boat...for some reason, they kept the Aquapalooza crowd company. But of course, just as I'm retrieving my anchor, after 15min of prep time (getting dinghy, aft anchor, pfds on, etc), they decide to stop over my anchor. What's worse is the captain Mike (I actually know the guy, he has the boat next to me) is on his cell phone looking away as I bear down on them...I had to whistle to wake him up...oh brother.

Bottom line - they were all out on Sunday...I had more fun back at the dock washing the boat.

We were at Croton yesterday and it wasn't too bad. I only saw the Westchester Police boat and the Fire boat. Why is the Fire boat patrolling, do they have any authority? Everything was good until the Westchester boat roared off towards the other side of the river fo some reason, then it seemed like the PWCs felt that they could do as they pleased. I think I counted about 20-21 boats in the Aquapalooza raft up, they seemed to be prety much under control.
Headed back to Haverstraw about 4:00 pm.

No, the fireboat has no authority but will assist if there's a medical emergency. I suspect they were there in response to the previous day's drowning and again, it was the second within the week. You can thank me and my neighbors for providing the tax dollars to maintain the boat, give it a free slip, etc...although I should note, as volunteers, the kids that run the boat are on their own time.

We left at approx 4pm also and true, the raftup was very well behaved and well organized. As we approached in the morning there was a line of boats waiting to raft up...it looked like they were having a good time. I also like the fact they chose to go out far enough as to not disturb us regulars who like to anchor closer.

In the other thread where we complain about unnecessary stops along the Hudson, there's plenty of law breaking at Croton Point to empty the ticket book such as the annoying jetskis and people blasting music. Then again, I did realize as I left that my dinghy covers the boat name and port (no reg numbers) so I too am not perfect.
